Long story here...We live in a subdivision that has a common area in the middle that was once a park. It has long since been left to wild and between the left-overs, the teens that hang out in there and the trees that have grown up it is currently pretty unusable. My boys and I have started (tonight) to clean it out and make some path back there. I just got a JD 650 and figured I would need that quite a bit to clear out the trash and trees in particular. Well, turned out the MF7 was all we need. The thing you see in the very back is a frame from an old swing set that I was sure the Massey could not pull out of the woods. The trail was quite hilly and very wet after a long thunderstorm last night. To my surprise it had absolutely no trouble the whole way back. We get back to the pole barn and my older boy, 4, says I told you the Massey could do it. To funny.

I have to laugh at this. Last fall, I changed the oil on my truck and missed removing the old oil filter gasket. It ran for a few minutes, then blew the gasket after I'd moved back about 15 feet so I could pick the drain pan up easily. So I shut off the engine in a panic, then wanted to move the truck back to the top of the drive to work on it and get out of the oil puddle. I was the only adult, didn't trust my boys to handle the truck if it started to roll down the drive, didn't want them driving anything other than my MF8. So the oldest (heaviest LOL) boy drove the MF8 and pulled my truck up the slight incline and out of the oil puddle, spinning the wheels most of the way. Now, it bugged me that I hadn't been able to use my MF12, so a few days later I re-created the situation, only this time I had the "big" MF12 out. It pulled the truck up the slope too....spinning all the way!

I'm glad the Massey was up to the task. Those boys look like they were having fun. Good luck cleaning the park area.

Those little 7/8's are still pretty heavy at almost 500lbs with the mower deck. Weight = traction and with the right gearing you can do a lot of work with 8hp. I have an 8 and they are a sturdy little tractor. Too bad the transmissions are not rated for ground engaging equipment.

I just read this to my 4 year old and when I get done he smiles and says, "That is funny because Massey's aren't that big." I tryed to explain how Massey's come in different sizes but I don't think it sunk in...

That's good that you've taken it upon yourself to clean up the area for everyone to enjoy and while you're doing it you're also spending some good time with your boys. You are to be commended. Glad the Massey had what it took to do the job.
