It's got spark and compression but will only fire if I dump gas in it. Must have to clean the carb yet. Anyone know if I can get a rebuild kit for this carb? Starter problem fixed itself and still wondering about the rear end.
You can get a rebuild at NAPA stores, it is kit number 7-02020, it will fit the carburetors used on H22 to H70. The Tecumseh kits might still be available, I think they were #32256A, but double check that number. The 7 is a nice little lawn tractor that is very nimble around trees, the cut is only 32".
I was afraid of that...You said they are easy to come by, but I have looked for about a week now and haven't found a single one, anywhere. Any ideas? Am I missing something? Or do I just need some patience? Thanks again guys!
I know I've seen them on ebay from time to time.
Yep, patience might be the key here.
Have you tried calling guys like Joe's Outdoor Power, or Mower freedom?
I have 3 of those decks, but shipping across the border would be crazy expensive.
You'd be further ahead to find a whole parts machine w/deck. There's one on ebay now.
Oh, I just looked at that 8 on ebay. In Pa. probabley a bit too far away. BUT, it has hub caps!!!
Sherwood is right, buying a whole other tractor, whether it is a parts tractor or a good one is usually the best way. For what you will spend on just a deck for just a couple bucks more you can get the whole tractor. Then you would have the mower deck and spare parts. If you found an 8 then you would have the better 8hp Tecumseh.
I added the MF8 on ebay to my watch list and will bid on it if the bids don't go out of hand. If I get it I will sell you the deck for a fair price and ship it to you if you want. I already have a good deck on my 8.
WOW! That is awesome George. Thank you. Before you do it just for me though...how much are we talking total here? I don't have to have a deck but would really like one.

I would say like $10 or $20. Problem is how much is shipping going to be. Good thing is it should be able to go ups even though it would be an awkward box. I am not trying to make money off it, just trying to help someone out. I will have to measure my deck and weight it and get an idea of how much shipping would be.
Wow, that would really be awesome. Now, I have to tell you the minute I bought this, my buddy's cousin asked if he knew anyone who had a plow tractor. I might sell it to him, but he does want a deck. So, either way you are totally helping me out.
Well, mixed report. Got it to run on starter fluid, carb is totally clogged though and I can't seem to get it clean. I have tried everything I know of. Ran good too, I found a good replacement for $100, so I think I am gonna go that route. Anyone need a Tecumseh H70 that needs a carb cleaning? haha
You need to take the carb apart all the way. Goto a parts store and buy a gallon of carb cleaner that you can soak the carb in it over night. I have had to soak them up to 3 days before everything got softened up.
Wow that musta been a lotta ****. To be honest I think I would rather repower, since I found this engine for $100. It just seems like a pretty good option and I will have a totally new engine.
Hope you can find a deck. They are a nice mowing little tractor. Mowed alot of lawn with one back in the late 60's. It had an electric start Brigg's. Still ended up with a couple of engines in it, but it mowed acres and acres.
After you disassemble the carb on any of these small tecumseh H engines you should hear the metering needle rattle when you shake the body. Sometimes they get varnished or rusted into place over time or the idle screw may have been tightened when the carb was inverted and this can cause the metering needle to sieze. I have never had much success in freeing them no matter how long they soak. Since the metering needle is inaccessible you end up having to replace the carburetor. Unfortunately when I've bought old Tecumseh's which were on snow throwers, go carts, etc. it's hard to convince the seller to let you take off the carb, remove the bowl and float and then shake the carb to see if what you're buying is going to work. Good luck with your project.
I am sorry middleageddeere, I had to go pick up a tractor tonight and didn't get a chance to bid on the MF8 on ebay. It went for a good price too considering it had the hub caps. I will keep an eye out for another one for you.
A little late to posting here in the thread since I was able to tell you in chat but it went for $87. Not bad considering. I wish I would have been able to bid on it but I don't like to bid until the last second and I wasn't home to be able to.
