Hello

I'm just joining the forum and pleased to see so many experiences and knowledge about MF. This is really rich !

I've just bought an old MF8 to restore. Currently, there's no step, and I like to redo the original plates. Would someone have a picture of them and the dimensions ?

Thank you !

First welcome to GTtalk.

I have a Massey MF8 Hydro. I can take some pics and get some measurements for you as long as my A.D.D doesn't kick in while I am out in the garage. Do you need both step plates? They are pretty good size pieces and might not be the easiest to make but I can get the dimensions for you.

Kind of hard to pass that up. I don't think you could make em for that price. I forgot the MF7 and MF8 had separate foot rests. I was thinking they were all one piece with the wrap up over the center of the frame like on the 10 and 12

Thanks everyone for your quick answers !
The sale on ebay is quite interesting . Unfortunatly, I'm living in France, so shipping will be hard for steel plates !
Anyway, the pics give me an idea of the basic shapes and brackets.
Thanks again !

If you still need measurements, I could get them for you. The tractor is kinda under tarp & snow right now, but if you need them quick, I can shovel over to it. Possibly Thursday? Let me know, or if someone has a more accessible set to measure, maybe they can beat me to it & save me some shovel time. :D

I do have 1 MF8 plus extra sheet tin tucked away in the corner of the garage, I'll take a look tonight and see what I got, I'd say the pictures+info "Bud" posted are pretty good.

Here's some pictures.
Right side
Wheel Tire Toy Vehicle Automotive tire

Left side
Wheel Tire Snow Vehicle Toy

There is a piece of pipe that has 2 brackets on it that bolt to the frame and the rear of both steps bolt to brackets that attach to the pipe

The front has a pipe also that slides into brackets on the steps, the bracket also bolts to the frame.

Right side step is longer than the left side, I guess because of the pedal.
Buds pictures show front and rear mounts for the steps.

BTW, they did sell these 7/8 series with just the foot pegs. I think from what I can see in your photo, they are original.

Do they look like this? If so, I would personally keep them. You do not see them too often like that.

The foot pegs are exactly like those.
I'd prefer the larger steps for safety.
Thanks for this pic. This MF7 is superb

I hear you Ralph! I have an 8 that I gave to my youngest son... Even with the full foot boards, the shaft drive mower deck just begs for a shoe lace, I can't imagine how bad that fear would be without the foot boards!
