I got this MF8H off member DH1 in Dec. 2011.

Serial # 1590507128, makes it a 1974 I believe.

Engine is a Tecumseh HM80-155019A 4267R

I had it in the shop in May/Jun this year, and fixed up

most of the mechanical issues, which weren't many.

Primarily, the carb, and the seized hydra control cable.

A few weeks ago, I brought it back into the shop, and tore

it down in between working on the MF8E and dealing with

mother nature. Getting the steering wheel off, took 3 days

with the puller, and PB Blaster.

I only tore it down far enough, so I could get at everything for scraping, sanding,

priming and painting access. Sure is a lot of parts on these guys. I think more

than any other in this series of MF.

Of the 20 or so I've had my hands on, this is the first one I've had, where the

dash is intact. No cracks, or broke off mounting tabs. Exciting. :dancingbanana:

I've got all the rest of the parts degreased, decals removed, and any repairs

that needed doing, finished. Now I'm waiting for this "Polar Vortex" to settle

down a bit, so I can sand blast and carry on.

You've got a good start on it already Will. Is the steering wheel damaged, it appears to be the same as used on the C-series WH. tractors. I have one here at home if you need me to check measurements.

Brian, the wheel came off, without me damaging it, but I'd like to replace it.

If you look, in the pic, below the lower spoke, you can see the vinyl appears

to have been chewed by a mouse, or picked at by a nervous grounds keeper.

Thanks for the tip on the WH wheel. I'll look into that.

Wow Will, your already working on another one. You're making us all look bad. :D
Sorry, but if I don't, Mrs. will find stuff for me to do. Paperwork, and yucky stuff like that.

I might have to start another one, if I can't get outside to sandblast this stuff soon.

That's what I was asking about. I will take a picture of my wheel with a tape measure across it.

DSCF5633.JPGThis is my MF8. Been in the family since new. I need to do what you are doing but i have too much in front of it. I havent quite gotten all the carb issues worked out, but it does cut well.Nice to see another MF8 being restored!
That looks to be in real nice shape. I did some cutting with it in Sept. It is nice

to cut with.

I have always liked the looks of Masseys, the front end are just to cool. Can't wait to see yours when it's done.
Got a massey 7 (I think it said 7) Not hydro year unknown.I got it up north by the camper, used it for years mowing until rod went through the block.

I managed to get something done on this one, in between all the

winter weather activities.

The rims got wire wheeled, sanded, primed, and painted.

Front axle and tie rods too.
