Weather people really missed it this time. First one this year and they took turns between the 6 stations we get to see who could exaggerate the most. They were warning to not drive as road would be very slick, etc. etc. Checked the IA DOT Road conditions early this morning and just East and North of the Omaha, NE metro is the only part of the state and had roadways covered. Rest of the state was normal winter driving. In this area everything above ground was ice covered. Protected walk way had ice on it and North doors were froze shut. Nothing on the drive or the rest of the sidewalks. Walked down the hill to do chores on the grass and had no problem Other than the President, weather people are the only ones that can lie to the public daily and still get paid and keep their job.

Yeah and I am not the least bit disapointed with the fact they are wrong.
Rained for over 24 hours, when the rain stopped, the wind blew my driveway dry.
Ground is amply soaked and so when it freezes, it should cap things well.

Back when I was a kid there was a rain storm moving in. Both local stations made no big deal out of it. Turned out to be a huge storm that stalled out right over the valley. Rained for hours heavy. I can't remember the inches per hour but it was a lot.

Major flash flooding occurred. I think there were a couple dozen people killed.

After that event all the local weather stations make every weather event out to be the storm of the century.

Every snow flurry Is a blizzard and every thunderstorm is an huge tornado and rain fall of biblical proportions.

We had a lot of rain here too, then it froze and seized my weather station up. No rain gauge,wind speed or direction. Might go thaw it out later. We definately need a good freeze and sounds like we might get it before the next one rolls across after Sunday.

The report here was a nice day until late afternoon or evening then the rain coming in. Was planning on getting some things accomplished on a day off. Woke up to rain this AM and that's all it's done all day. :wallbanging: :mad2:
