What a surprise yesterday in the price of Gauge wheels for my mower deck.The gauge wheels on my MF 2325 mower deck for the MF GC 2300 have broken away from the center pipe[bushing] I tried gluing them back on last year using a rubber compound but they have let go sometime last summer.So yesterday I was at Massey and just about fell over when they gave me a price of new ones. $125 each x 4 wheels guess who won't be buying wheels from them.I then went to a speciallity wheel place and they couldn't help me with anything either.I came home and guess I'll try and maybe glue them back onto the pipe using JB weld this time to see if it will last. Where do they get there pricing from.The shaft size is 1" as the wheels carry the deck all the time its how its designed.Still can't see how they come up with that price.I'll have to design and make my own,already have a idea.Larry

Could you give us all the dimensions? Width, hgt, bushing length, etc?

Also, before you put on the JB, clean all the rubber off and burnish the pipe and caster surfaces. We had a dolly at work with odd wheels that I had to fix and it's held up well by doing it this way. 500 lb refrigerator last week and they're still on.

Thats what I did,cleaned them all up really well and JB welded them yesterday so by noon today they will have cured 24 hrs.I'll measure them up and post later.Larry

Went out and did a quick measurement. Shaft size = 7/8" wheel width = 2 3/4" wheel height[dia] = 4 1/2" Larry.

I've adapted brgs to rollers before on a different mower deck and the problem with using brgs in such a small dia. wheel is that because of the brg being so close to the ground it fill up with dirt/water/grass etc: in a short time.Even with using shielded brgs with metal shields they still filled up fast and seized with all the crud that worked into them. Looked at some flange bearings I had here at home and those had steel shield too . I did find double seal ones in McMaster Carr McMaster-Carr
but those don't in 7/8" in the stamp steel . Different style flange in 7/8" they do carry seem too $$$ , what kind of bearing was in the original wheels ? Al

No it is not designed that way. Those wheels are not supposed to run on the ground all the time. I have mine adjusted all the way up so the wheel just sticks below the deck and blades. The wheels are just there to keep you from scalping the ground if you go into a dip or uneven place. That's why they are called anti scalping wheels. You adjust your deck height by the knob below your seat by your left foot.
