I have used this 1220 since I was 10 years old, and that was many moons ago now.

Recently I tore it apart and repainted it and put a HH120 long block replacement engine in that I sourced from an old Bolens dealer here in Oregon. (The engine was still in the Tecumseh box). I have pictures of the new engine, but I can't find them at the moment.

What you don't see here is the fact that the tractor sat, unused for about 10 years in a field behind my Uncle's house after a tree fell on it during a bad storm. It bent the tube frame into a U-shape and I had to source another frame for the tractor. Now that the tractor is rebuilt it regularly works on our hobby farm doing everything from mowing to tilling and hauling debris.

To me, the Bolens tube frames are the best garden tractors ever made. Even next to Cub Cadet they just are superior. That last pic is my good friend Colin digging a ride on the tractor during the engine break-in.

No, I painted it white like it is supposed to be. The finished product is in the picture where it is pulling the trailer. The red is oxide primer, which I use on all my tractor restorations since it seems to be far more durable than other primers I have used. It works for the Navy, anyway... :)

:welcometogttalk: Good to hear of success, especially a tractor with so much memories. Looks like it is ready for quite a few more years of service. Glad you found the forum and hope you enjoy your stay here. Thanks for the history on this 1220 and the pics.
