Thought I would post a few pictures of my bolens 1253. one is the before picture, after alot of work this is what it looked like, pretty sorry still. had 6 inch wheels on the front and some pretty bad rust on the sheet metal. Mechanically it was fairly sound at this point. I was relocating an 8x10 metal building in the before picture.

the "shiny" pictures are after a winters work and modifications. I know there are some bolens purist out there that might not like the modifications. but this was to be a tractor that would work for me to haul fire wood out of our woods. Also, given this machines shape it will never be a prize winning original. it was more a parts tractor but I didn't want to see it parted out. excuse the rim's one is filthy from an axle leak I had and the two on the front were not painted yet to match the red of the originals. those are 4 lug rims, I built a set of spindles out of old trailer hubs I had. partially because i had to, the old wheels had no bearings and damaged the spindles pretty badly, but also because I wanted a stronger front spindle. just in case. I also have a few pictures of my homemade sleeve hitch and my homemade hydraulic setup if you all would like to see. thanks.

Dang, the old girl was rode hard and put away wet more than once wasn't she?

It's looking a lot better now. As for 'correct', owner mods give a tractor character, and a working tractor doesn't need "Sunday go to meeting" clothes anyway :D :D :D

oh yes used and abused for many many years before I stumbled on it. it had no seat, no steering wheel. the PTO lever was froze in place and the return pin on the PTO had been sheared off. thanks everyone for the comments I will post some pics of the hitch and hydro set up as time allows.

uxtractor and sawdust, here are a few pictures of the sleeve hitch. it was built to original bolens sizes. someone posted a drawing of one and I used that for a guideline. I had to change a few things given the thicker metal that I used but it was pretty minor. Some of the pictures are a bit deceptive as there is alot more clearance between the tires and the hitch than it appears, probably 1.5 inches or so.
