That's pretty neat! Should do a fine job for your blower!

The pto is adapted from a Bolens XL12 as is the snowthrower.
It works pretty decent and has worked well for 2 winters, but this last storm really hurt the thrower , killed the driveshaft and the sprocket on the auger. I'm looking for a 2 stage unit I can adapt to my rig, anyone have anything, that's close to me ?
I think I have a little video of it in action that I can post, this was done last winter at my old place.

Looks to me like your blower was doing a excellent job for you. You do nice work.
I'm just curious as to what you think you will gain by using a 2 stage. From what I've seen they have a hard time with wet or slushy snow. Tend to plug up where as with a single stage you can blow anything.

Thanks Chris , singles take a lot of HP , and don't throw it far , a 2 stage should, use less power and throw it further? Next door neighbor threw the stuff clear across his drive with his rig. It was something red, blew that wet heavy crap like it was fluff!

If you find out what make it is I'd be interested in knowing. I know Ariens are suppose to make an excellent blower but the ones for the older GT series are huge. I can throw snow on top of my hangar with the Simplicity single stage but I've seen videos of the Ariens 2 stage throwing it over a house. Very impressive.
Let us know how it works out for you.

That copper part was the exhaust exit, before I gave the tractor a paint job, now that part is a crome pipe.

That's a nice setup for the blower. Have you verified that you have it turning at the proper speed. If the speed is low then you won't get the throw distance that it was designed for. If the diesel isn't turning as fast as a gas engine would (3600) for instance.

Diesel screws! Turns 3850 rpm , I have 2 speeds to choose from and have tried both, the pto shaft spins at 2000 rpm in low,( factory speed for Bolens as everything is the same) and crankshaft speed in high range ( 2 different shives on pto clutch) . So it is right where it should be, and does great in fluff , but the wet stuff makes it shake and robs HP like crazy.
