I brought my new 1655 home today! Bought it right with a 4850 tiller and a snow thrower and a deck....check out the serial number! Sorry if the pictures are upside down but not real sure how to turn them! The body panels are all pretty strait but the dash and tunnel cover are in pretty bad shape. The frame has a repair where it cracked gonna gind that out and lay a better weld. The motor is not original but I do have all the original service manuals for the tractor, tiller and blower ( that I sold on the way home from picking it up!). The PO also added power steering to the rig, I will post pictures later when I take it apart some more to fix some farmer repairs! That is something I've never seen before. I figured most of the "first born" GT's were long since abandoned in a scrap yard. Or we'll never know what #1 was, since the model's serial was started at an odd number.

I hate to put a value on it, but something like that can only go up as people enter the hobby. There was a pair of guys up north somewhere, the Kellers, who collected as many of the "first born" Johnny Popper John Deeres as they could. Their collection is incredible, and the value is astronomical. Its only a matter of time until that happens to GT's, too.

Yes sir the first one off the line. Your pictures do a good job at showing how well built those MF are. Maybe you can post some more pictures after you get everything cleaned up and sorted out. She looks like its been taken care of. Thanks for sharing your find.

That is something special to have. #1.

I know you work your machines, but you might want to consider

moth balling this one, or at least baby it.
