If it is normal, there is a locking collar on the tractor end of the half shaft. Collar is spring loaded and moves sideways-- rather than in and out. Might have to hold it while tapping shaft if it doesn't slip right off. Good luck, Paul.
I seen the locking collar and it just tilted back and forth. Didn't try to move it sideways. Will give that a try and see what happens. Hopefully the shaft is not wore to bad. Thanks much for the information.
The face of the collar catches a groove in the shaft. Moving it sideways centers it so the collar can be slid past the groove. I haven't seen wear issues in any of mine. Worst you may have is a bad u-joint, which pretty much means finding a new(er) half shaft. They seem to be pretty common, new or used, online. Paul
After I got it off and cleaned up it fits good. U-joints are good also. Local Ag repair shop has the new style joints on hand and can cut the old one off and weld the new one on. Joints are good, back one has been replaced already and has a grease zerk.
