I FINALLY got a chance to do some mowing today. What with rain, and other commitments, the grass was getting TALL

Anyway, I fired up the CC LTX 1045 and mowed the South and front yards, but the going was SLOW. Grass was in the 6-8"+ range, and I really had the keep the ground speed low to keep from lugging the engine.

I had just put a new belt on the Sickle-Mo that's mounted on the G10, and to kind of 'break up' the day, I decided to knock down the weeds in the ditch out by the road before mowing the North yard.

Well, I noticed that the grass in the North yard was even taller than the South yard was, so....I said to my self, "Self, just for the heck of it, why don't we knock it down with the Sickle-Mo?". Where upon, Self replied, "Sounds like a plan to me".

I had the G10 in High 1st and about 1/2 throttle, and that Sickle-Mo SAILED through that tall crass without breaking a sweat. Sure was fun.

It ain't purty, and ain't gonna win any "Best Yard Contest". You can see that there are areas that I missed, but it IS down, and I can hit it with the 1045 in a couple of days or so to 'pretty it up' some.

I was having some traction issues when I was on the "yard side" of the slope at the ditch, and it's clear that I'm going to have to put that Sickle-Mo on "Ole Ugly", the 1256 with the loaded AGs.

Of course, I took pics, so here is the result.

The grass was pretty tall there, but it looks like it did a great job. Nice work.

HA! I've developed a temp solution to my pully problem and mowed over 1 acre of 4 foot tall grass and weeds in the field next to the apartment building. I LOVE MY SICKLE MO!!!!! God bless Joe Haban!

Cool!

After seeing what it did on my "short" grass, I can't wait to get a chance to mow some tall stuff like that.

Shucks, once I get it mounted on "Ole Ugly", I may just put an ad on CL.

Well i think that did a great job
So do I. It did just what a Sickle-Mo is supposed to do. Knock stuff down. with no finesse.

They are designed to cut tall grass/weeds/hay at a fairly high speed, not to 'groom' a lawn.

Looks great to me. It sure looks nice and lush there. It's just starting to green up here now with the maple leaves starting to pop out! Nice looking property you have there!
