I have a Snapper 1600 and would like to see what the 3 point or sleeve hitch lift looks like on one and how it is connected to the lift arm that works with the deck lever. If it's pretty easy to rig up I'll try it. If you've got a picture of one I would love to see it. I've also been thinking about using the extra 3 point hook up from a parts 1650 and use an electric actuator from a Craftsman GT6000 in place of the hydraulic ram. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Here is a picture of one,it looks to me to be the same as the one on the 50 and 55 series Masseys.

Thanks y'all. Hey Maynard, that's a picture of a 1650 like mine. The one I'm trying to mount everything on is a 1600 which is the exact same except it has a standard transmission and no hydraulics. What little time I got today to work on it I spent about an hour trying to figure out how to mount the electric actuator when I noticed the bracket on my parts 1650 that holds the hydraulic cylinder for the 3 pth and started to grind off the welds to use it when I heard "HONEY, I want to go out to eat". I'll get it off tomorrow, I mean today (Saturday) and get it onto the 1600 frame. The actuator wouldn't work so I opened up the motor and it had gotten wet inside and was all crudded up and the wire on one of the brushes was broken. I found new brushes for $9.20 at Texas Alternator and got it cleaned up and working. If this works it'll be great and if it doesn't then I think I'll find a hydraulic pump from something like a Case 446 and a reservoir and use the hydraulic cylinder from the 1650 parts tractor. Oh, I'll take some pictures too.

Never caught this thread till now. I've never been around the 1200 thru 1600 series, but the pics of 1200's I've seen did have sleeve hitches. Unfortunately I don't have any knowledge of how they are set up, or any literature on them. Maybe MikeB has info.

The reason I want a 3 point rather than a sleeve hitch is that all my plows etc are 3 point. Here's what I got done today. First I removed the mechanical lift arm, spring assist etc from the 1600
and then I removed all the rear PTO stuff. Next I cut the hydraulic cylinder mounting bracket off my 1650 parts tractor and tack welded it in the exact location on the 1600. Because the parts 1650 didn't have the rear PTO, the plate across the rear of the frame was different so I used it too. I bolted the 3 point assembly onto the 1600 and mounted the electric actuator, ran the wires to the battery and flipped the switch.
Wahlah....it worked.
Now because the 1600 axle housing doesn't have the lugs for the lifting arms to attach to I'll fabricate some that will come down off the frame. By putting that bracket in the exact location as on a 1650 I can use the hydraulic cylinder from the parts tractor if this actuator doesn't hold up and I need to add hydraulics. I've taken pictures and will make a final post showing what I've done. I just want to thank everyone for their help and encouragement. I will not work on it tomorrow as I'll be watching the Daytona 500 and enjoying a day off........wait a minute, I'm retired and everyday is a day off.

Yes, I'm dropping the rear pto all together. I don't have any pto driven equipment. Right now I'm using a Troybilt horse tiller but have one that I'm putting a 8hp Kohler Magnum on and fixing it to be a three point tiller. One of the bottom pulleys is rusted to the point of no use and parts are hard to find plus I don't really like the idea of the pto running all the time.

Ok, here's the finished product. I bolted the lift arm plates rather than welding as I first planned just in case I ever wanted to remove them. I mounted the switch next to the electric clutch switch and I also used the new weather resistant automotive plugs (can't remember what you call them) on the wiring for the lift and for the tail lights. I'm real pleased at the final outcome and how it worked.

You did a nice job on putting the three point on! I think you will be real happy with the hitch and how handy you will find it to use.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. Since this actuator was used for the sleeve hitch and deck on a Craftsman GT6000 I'm hoping it will hold up. This now gives me a 3 PTH on both my 1650 and my 1600. I worked great getting started on my garden yesterday.
