Theres lots of experts here on these machines so someone can give you the low down on this model . They seem to be a good solid machine but like any other they have problem areas and eventually things wear out on older tractors.

I have heard the mower deck is junk, but I have a Case 446 that I do my mowing with so I figure since I have never messed with the Snapper 1650 GT I would give it a shot a play around with it

The guys are all correct just like usual. This is the same tractor as a MF 1650 except slightly newer and different paint, decals, embossed seat, and id plates. I love mine. Some parts can be tricky to find but you can get by. Never liked the mower deck either but plastic weld from your local auto parts store can stiffen up and patch up most of the console. Pictures if you get it please.

Well took a look at the Snapper 1650 has a Massy I'D tag on it, plus looked like it has been repainted and put Snapper decals on it. I would love to try my hand at this tractor because it looks very heavy duty, but to become a nice work tractor it will take a lot of work that I don't have but wish I did:( the 1650 has 3point and rear PTO

I think the 1650's were single cyl while the 1655/1855 where twins, can't remember the difference, I'm probably wrong :D

They are good heavy tractors, mid and rear lifts, 3 pts, all hyrdo, etcs. As mentioned, the bad is the mower decks, they use a timed system, almost impossible to find belts or parts for them. The rear PTO is nice, but it is 2000rpm only, limits you to what rear implements you can use and finding them. I have an 1855 I bought a year ago, but hidden problems has had it sideline since I brought it home, finally got my parts, hope to work on it in August then get my FEL built for it. It had a rear blade already so it will be limited to a dirt/gravel mover.

Yes the 1650 or shall we say the 50's series tractors are single cylinder and 55 series are twin cylinder. I don't know I still have the op to get the 1650 if I want it.

1650 is K341 Kohler single cylinder. 1655 is twin Onan I believe. They don't build like this anymore unless you spend some very serious cash.

The mower deck is a con if you intend on using it for mowing.I love that series of GT's but the deck keeps me from owning one.
The decks on the Massey models were much better than the Snappers, unless your talking about the cogged/time pulley blade system, which I love, expensive to rebuild, but hey its a once in a lifetime rebuild

I like the drive setup better on the 50 series better than the 55 series. The 50 series (as 1650) powered the hydro direct shaft from engine, then belt to pto. The 55 series drove the pto direct shaft, then belt to the hydro.
