hello,
I'm looking at picking up mid to late 70's Snapper 1855 and have a couple of questions. First, what is the comparable MF to this model? any good / bad points about this tractor. what is it worth, it has a functional loader and and deck that is need of repair. no three point.
thanks!

Same as MF 1855. Great tractor and identical to the MF except the Snapper has an Eaton Hydro and MF has Sundstrand. I prefer the Sundstrand but the Eaton is a good Hydro as well.
Loader is a definent PLUS.
No 3 point, to bad. How about rear PTO?
You will love this tractor for sure.

The loader it self could be worth $1000 by it self. If running and operating good $500 on the tractor. The belts for the mower deck are expensive and hard to find but the deck can be modified to make it functional. There is an article in the MF section on hoe to do this.

I think $500 for good running 1855 might be a little light. I would certainly pay more than that for one. I guess a lot of that depends on where you are located.
btw, I think snapper called the 1855 with the PTO an 1855a.

Depending on condition and style, the FEL alone can set you back from $750 to $1500+. Add in a bare bones 1855 in decent running condition, $2000 to, maybe, $2500 for both pieces in excellent condition.

The lack of a 3PH makes it difficult to get the maximum use out of the tractor/FEL combination and that is a $300+ option, plus something to hang on it. Additionally, the bucket should be sized to the tractor. In this case at least 48"wide.

Without seeing it, $2000 at most. That is an excellent combination, with the right setup.

I'm with Bob on this one. A picture or 2 would be very helpful determining value.
