Can anyone tell me why my snapper 1855 with the Massey 4820 snowblower has a serious vibration when the pto is turned on and blower is engaged It settles down when I lower it and start going through the snow then when I get to a clear spot it VIBRATES I don't recall it doing it last anywhere near this bad

I don't know your specific tractor blower combo but I have had severe vibrations and found a bearing was shot. Also have had auger imbalanced that was a loud one. I would recommend free spinning by hand to be sure no contact with housing. If its belt driven I know a loose belt can also vibrate when not under load, actually it can get pretty darn violent. Just thinking aloud hope this helps. Good luck!

If it has an impeller, two stage, I would guess the impeller is out of balance. It turns much faster than the auger. Check for a balance weight or a brace that maybe fell off. Also check bearings. Noel

Also, if it is shaft driven you have more angle in your U joints when it is raised up, so give the entire drive line a good once over. Something must be loose or worn. It's better to find it now than in the middle of a huge snow storm!

In adition to what the guys mentioned above, make sure something is not stuck to the blower impeller, like a frozen chunk of ice, etc. Sometimes a solid belt will hold is park shape for quit a while till it gets warmed up good. When cold it want o return back to the shape around the pulleys. A cog belt or even a link belt is much better in this case. Hope you find it.

I have 2 other sets of these mounts and gear boxes and I am going to take a closer look at how it bolts together hopefully tomorrow Something isn't right I don't think that plate should move around should it?
