There is a sale near me this coming Saturday, and a friend sent me a text with a pic that shows a Standard Twin in the sale. It looks to be complete, and apparently has one or more attachments with it. He thought I might be interested.

Because I usually focus on Bolens tractors as many of you know, I have no clue what an unrestored Standard Twin might be worth. I can tell you that it is on steel, and the wheels are doubled. I do not know whether the engine is free, and fully functional.

I know that some of you will be tempted to post "whatever you are willing to pay for it" or "it depends on ------ whatever", but I am not looking for that type of answer. I am looking for opinions from folks who have some knowledge of Standard Twin values in the current marketplace. If I decide to bid on it, I don't want to be offering more than it is worth.

Theirs one for sale 3mi.from me, $500 firm so far, I tried $300 but no dice, it's on steel and runs, has cultivator and flat belt pully and in good condition all around, engine has aluminum heads so its a later model than yours, let me know if you want his phone number, I live in northern Michigan lower part

I'm not desperate to have one. There is one for sale at an auction 15 miles from me tomorrow, so I may end up with one anyway.

Went to the auction and discovered that the unit was actually a Standard Monarch. With dirt plow, one half of the disc set, no cultivator frame but some of the items that would attach to a cultivator frame, and wheel weights, it went for $150. Carb was broken in two, but the engine was free and the hand crank was with the tractor. the Tractor No. was 403E2082.

The tractor was built in 43. That would have had the flywheel mag. They were known for bad coils. Did you buy it?

No, I did not buy it. There were a couple of other folks there who were obviously willing to go much higher than I was willing to. It's not like I need more tractors! And I did meet a guy who might be willing to sell one of the ride-on lawn rollers that were available for Bolens 2-wheelers like the Power Ho's. So the day was definitely not a bust.
