Have a Tech engine out of a H16. Replaced the engine when I got the tractor and would like to get this OH160 running again. PO said either the stator or the module was bad as it died on him. Cannot find any stator testing information without the engine running. 3 terminals at the plug from the stator. Either end terminal to the center shows open. Between the two outside terminals it shows continuity with no resistance. Is this normal or is the stator bad? Any way to test the module before trying to start it? Not a big fan of electronic ignition and this is why.

The 3 wire plug that plugs into the regulator has the two stator wires and 1 wire that is the regulated +12 volts. You should measure a low resistance (0.5 ohms give or take an ohm or so) across the 2 wires that go to the stator (it's a piece of wire coiled up). You should measure infinite (maximum) resistance from either of the stator wires to ground.

Thanks guys. Guess I haven't got the right manual yet. Hard to tell by the title just which manual one needs for the different engines. Will do some checking on it tomorrow.

The 3 wire plug I mentioned is the one from the stator.

Thanks ClassicBolens. Some how I missed that manual but I have it now.
