I tried and tried but, I couldnt save the steering wheel and my MF 12 G and had to cut it off. Does anyone know of a wheel I can use if I cant come up with and original replacement? (not had any luck there yet) Even if its an aftermarket custom automotive with the adaptor if need be.................(sigh) I guess I could live with that.

Thanks guys............I'll look into Northern more.........I did find a couple on ebay, both had been removed by cutting the shaft...........I would hate to buy one and be in the same position I was in with stuck shaft splines.

You could get the shaft out easily with shaft cut off. The underside of the steering wheel is strong, so you could put it in a press & push the shaft out. I did just that with one off a Massey yesterday to use it on my JD diesel conversion tractor. I just set the steering wheel in a large vice, then using a drift pin, gave the shaft a few good whacks & she popped right out.

I have a steering wheel off a 12 and one off a 16. I just dont remember which came off which. If you need one let me know. I have a 50/50 percent of being right. I also have a deck from a 12 that I will make someone a good deal on.

The 10's, 12's, 14 & 16's, and all the way through the 1855 use the same shaft size. I'm using a Massey MF85 steering wheel on my JB diesel conversion, using a Massey MF12 shaft welded to my power steering stub shaft. Most make steering wheels will interchange, unless the keyed style as on the Sears Suburbans. I have a MF1650 steering wheel on my other Bush Hog JBI with original Bush Hog steering column.

For the steering wheel cap you can't beat the machined aluminum caps that olcowhand makes, them things are awesome. Every one of my Masseys will have one :D

Yes, they are real nice. My 16 came with one.
I'm looking for a wheel for my 1450, as I'm planning on selling it, and I don't want to part
with that nice wooden wheel that's on it now.
