Like the title says, I've decided to build a Bolens 1050. I will be using a G14 as the base and swap some parts around until I have a running tractor.

I've had the G14 for a few years now and it has just sat for the last two because of some wiring problems. I finally got around to working on it and can't get the Tecumseh to run now. I'm pretty sure the SSI went bad. I had a spare that was good but I swapped it in and got nothing. I think it went bad too, or I'm just missing something simple.

I've tried to sell the G14 and can't bring myself to part it out. I also don't want to have it just sit around and take up space any longer. So it's time to start over.

I have a lot of 1050 parts laying around so I will be using a TRA 10D Wisconsin along with anything need to make it run. I'm also thinking about swapping the hood and fenders but I haven't decided on that for sure yet.

I will add updates as I get time to work on it.

The G14 I'm using is the one is this picture.

Got a lot done of the G14 to 1050 today. Also warning large post ahead lol.

First I started off with pulling the engine since I won't be using it. I also pulled the front axel because it had a lot of play in it. The fender pan also came off in this step too. Personally I'm not a huge fan of the full fenders.

Next I noticed that the right frame tube was in bad shape and also had a brace inside the tube. I figured I better replace it while I had everything apart.

Here you can see the new tube in. It is brown because it came from a 1050 that I started to restore and then gave up one. You can also see the difference in the size of the tube clamps. The small clamp is the stock G14 one and the beefier one is from the 1050. I decided to use the 1050 clamps.

Since the original axel had a lot of play in the pivot pin I replaced in with another. The new axel came from a 1256 that I had parted and it's in better shape. I also mounted the pto.

Finally the last thing I did for the night was put the front tires back on and also put a 1050 seat and fender pan on.

Sunday I will be going to look at a donor tractor for the engine and wiring harness.

I bought the engine donor today. I may swap the engine in later today.

Looking sweet. Would love to see it now.
Since there weren't many people interested in the project I haven't been updating the post.

Not much has changed since those last pictures. I did get the engine and a few other small parts mounted. Right now I need time and money before I can go much further.

This is from the day I mounted the engine.

Personally I'm not a huge fan of the full fenders

i totaly agree with you i never liked the full fenders the 1050s look 10x better then the 1053s and all that. i wanted a hydro tube frame but dont like the looks or colors of the 1256 and 57 so i was glad to find a 1225

That looks like a fun project. Those 1050's are nice tractors. It would be nice if you could actually build up a 1050 from the parts that you have.

I actually could build a whole 1050 or come darn close too it. I started to restore a 1050 and tore it completely down since I kept finding broken parts. That was 4 years ago and I came to realize I'd never finish it, plus it would have had parts from 10+ tractors in it. So far I've used a few of the part I had for it but still have most if just sitting.

Just like the Johnny Cash song 'one piece at a time' It don't matter how many tractors it took to make it as long as you were able to save a tractor and have fun that is a good project.
