I want yo buy a set of tri ribs for my 1254. I see that the front tyres (Turf Tyres) on Tractor Data for the 1254 are 16x6.50-8. I guess that the tri ribs are different as they are taller and thinner? So would 4.00.8 be the right size? The make is Treleborg T513 on big tyres.co.uk

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

4.00 sounds narrow to me. Go with what is on it now or other tractors of comparable size.

The diameter of the 4.00x8 T513 should be good (16.8"), but I'm not sure whether your rims might be too wide. I think the standard rim width on your 1254 is around 3.5". Trelleborg specifies a 2.50" rim width (nominal) and 3" (permitted).

Which is more important to you, a very narrow ribbed tire or just a ribbed tire? It looks as though the Trelleborg T513 is not available in a width that would fit your rims, but Vredestein makes a great 5-ribbed tire in the 16x6.50-8 size and Firestone makes a 3-ribbed tire in that size, as well. The Vredestein is a Dutch company, so it should be available in the UK. I'm not sure if the Firestone is readily available in the UK, though.

The 4:00 x 8 tire will fit, but you need to put a tube in. And the tire will look bulged out. Still will give great traction , not as good of look thou. Depends what you want. I put them on my MF14. Wheels are wide on the 14. Noel.

I'll see if I can find a picture of it.

Thanks for everyone's input. As far as I know I can't get the Firestone 3 rib tyres in the correct size. I will take a gamble on the 4.00 8 ones as they are reasonably inexpensive.

Sometimes, I wish I live in the States so as to snap up these things.....

Again, thanks to all.
