Hi All, is there any part of the electrical system that could be causing plugs to foul, spark plug tester indicates strong spark, plugs seem to foul quickly, will preform compression test as soon as we get a tester, new filters carb, fresh gas , runs fine for a period of time then seems to missfire and run really rough, motor is on a small locomotive that we use to pull small passenger cars,
side note unit was completely submerged in seawater all systems flushed, new oil etc, however unit has been running fine until about a week ago.

Hi All, after removing the front cover around the flywheel to expose the armature’s it was quite clear the probable cause of fouled plugs, it is amazing that the engine ran as well as it did, all new parts will be ordered and replaced

My thoughts exactly, unfortunately the powers that be want everything in there replaced, they are looking for positive reliable, once I get the flywheel off and have a look in behind there , we’ll see
