I've begun my fall refresh work on my Bolens 1253. I got it running fine using an aftermarket pulse fuel pump, but I'd like to go back with it's OEM fuel pump. I took it apart and will replace the diaphrams, etc., no problem. The cover on the pump is obviously home made. After removing it, I found that the pump is identified as you can see in this second picture. The rigged cover is on the right in that picture. Here is my question: Do I even need the home made cover? For the life of me, I can't see that it does anything, and since the pump's ID is cast on the next part, does that mean that part is the actual cover? What do ya'll think?
