I was out useing the 1886-03 with FEL to move some dirt I went in to get another load in the bucket started to back out when I heard pop! The pedal went free and I could not move! I dump the bucket were the tractor stoped and went to go get dad to help pull the tractor back to the shop with the truck.

This will be number 4 on the times this rear end has been taken out and fixed.

#1 Was a reseal job.

#2 The input shaft that goes into the pump the pedal controls to go backwards or forwards broke.

#3 She came out again to fix the main seal on the pump shaft that would not stop blowing out.

#4 Is to see what broke this time.

Othen then this the tractor has been working great.

Sorry to hear of your problems, but it sounds like you know how to disassemble & reassemble this tractor!

Well here is what broke its the same as number 2 on the list but the pin in the shaft broke not the shaft it self this time.

On the plus side we got it all ready to go back in the tractor.

So, Bolens designed this tractor so that all that weight, all that horsepower, all of that sheer force was concentrated on that itty bitty little pin? Incredible!!! That seems like something MTD would do.

This is in the Eaton made pump Bolens has nothing to do with it. The pin is .312 od and is around 2in long its made from some hard stuff.

I do work this tractor alot more then I would the same tractor with a deck or tiller so I can see why somthing like this would fail. I was also backing up a hill with a full load of dirt in the bucket so add that to the weight.
