I like vises.

I picked this up at a yard sale yesterday. An early 5" Yost. Probably one of the best manufactures of vises in the world.

It is a model 33 and weighs in at at a whopping 112 lbs. I will refinish this vise.

Lets see your vises.

Do you want a picture of the pile of pieces of historical past vises, or the one that is soon to join them but still on my workbench?

I've never broken a vise.
That means you are more careful probably than I am. :smilewink:

No, seriously, I am probably one of the most careful with my stuff, but it seems I always broke vises, until I started getting a little more expensive. Don't buy stupid junk, and it will last you.

I had a 6" Craftsman that I really liked, only 6-8 yrs old, beat the poop out of it. I finally was clamping down on an auto part pretty hard and stripped the screw out of housing. Still got it under my bench, trying to figure out some way to repair the housing to reuse it again, haven't figure it out yet.

You just need to put a longer pipe on the handle when you clamp onto something! :D

Sorry to say I've busted a few! Never enough power!! :(

BTW I've quit a few vices like drinking and smoking! (15 years!!)

Sounds to me like you need a chain vise..
Haven't busted one since the family farm days.. Lots of stubborn equipment to work on then..

I've been more tool friendly in the last few decades.. Good to see ya back around G..
