That's very enlightening! I'm not that surprised that GM would make this large market a priority and with their foot in the door they can get access to a huge market with limited competition and far less overall regulation to deal with. It comes down to serving the share holders by providing profits and dividends using whatever strategies are needed to do it. My Forester was built in Japan. A lot of Subaru products are built in Indiana.

my(2) 97 Jeeps came from Toledo like Radar OReilly (any MASH fans?) my 78 Fury came from Michigan as did my 93 Dakota

I dont buy anything it seems newer than 10 yo when it comes to vehicles and as long as these are available I will continue to do so... I dont like newer cars I am allergic to payments

but what really pizzez me off is when I go to buy maintenance parts like a water pump or a set of wheel cylinders or brake rotors I cant get any parts that don't come from freaking China any more,,,,, I even went to the DEALER to buy my last set of rotors for teh Cherokee about 10 mo ago, and yes teh Dealer rotors said "made in China" on them..... why are we being forced to run china parts on our American cars??? Now THAT is BS....

Cause most people want.. CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP.. This is where its sending us..
I want a good deal yeah but I HATE REDO'S!!! and being forced to buy China $#!t basically guarantees that
I have found myself in the junkyard buying used versions of parts I wouldnt have dreamed of buying used.. because of the time factor involved both in having to pull 2 parts to replace one and the time to redo if need be; but so far it seems I get teh same chance of a successful repair by putting used on vs a new Chinese replacement... Both my current Dakota and my previous one that a buddy now owns, are running on JY waterpumps; my current one is at 14K miles so far so good, I have had reman ones fail in 200 miles before...

Maybe if we keep raising taxes it will bring manufacturing back to the US. :toilethead:
give em a taste of tehir own medicine tariff the snot out of anything that comes here from there. like tehy do to American goods on that end;

ya know tahts the only reason Honduh Toyota etc have assembly plants here; their cars are heavily taxed when they get to the dock but the crates of parts they send over to be assembled here aren't. It aint because these companies really "want to" help the American worker.
