Finally got the Haban Sickle-Mo working.

Found a place that cut off the old too short (4") PTO shaft and welded in one that's 8".

That gave me enough length to run the mower, and still short enough that I can get it installed without dropping the mower. Sure makes it a lot easier to put the shaft on the PTO when it slides a bit.

Here's a quick vid:
Bolens G10 with Haban Sickle-Mo - YouTube

I have a 55# weight on the left rear, and it STILL felt like it was a bit light on the left side when I was on a bit of a slope. Think I'm gonna get some longer carriage bolts and put BOTH weights on the left side.

PTO belt needs tightened as well. I'd like to find the optional 'kit' that allows you to use the hydraulic lift to lift the sickle bar. That would help a lot as I have to hold it when I lift the bar. Seems like it should stay, but unless I hold it, it just drops right back down.

Thanks for sharing the video.
Great stuff. Sure are fun to run, aren't they.
I'm not familiar with that model, but shouldn't there be a tensioning adjustment to hold the bar from dropping? Mine is a 416A, and the eye bolt (in pic) is the adjustment for blade load.

That's a very nice piece, and it looks like it does a great job.

You might fill the left rear wheel. That would give you some more ballast and keep both the weights where they are. Just a thought.

Before you know it, you'll be doing all the neighbors banks for them. Just for seat time. :D

Thanks for the video. Should be some way to hold it in the up position. Any way you add extra weight on the left would be a plus for slopes.

Good deal Oldbuzz! Ever since passing on that one to Meangreen, I've been wanting one. Well, I wanted that one, but no money at the time, so better Fred got it than neither of us.

Very nice. I just have one question. Did you intentionally leave the strip at the road long because you knew you were going to be playing with the sickle mower or was it just coincidence? :D

The PTO belt started slipping. I have another vid of me it the bottom of the slope coming back, but the mower kept plugging up and stopping.

Once I get another wheel weight on the left side, I'll try mowing that area from the top with the bar below horizontal.
