Yep, Gts Really Do Attract The Nicest People. A Short Story.

Last July, I got ahold of a Sears SS12, w/sickle, for a steal of a price. It was brought to my attention by a couple of members here. (DH1 and Poncho62) Either one of them could have scoped it up. That was
nice.

After giving it some TLC, I decided it was worthy of a 3 point hitch, so I actively started looking for
one. Saw some on Ebay, but all south of the border, and freight costs killed that plan. After
a month and a half of looking, I finely see one listed on Kijiji in Canada, for $50, but it's a 6 hrs drive each
way. I have a freind that lives about 3/4 hour from the hitch. I quickly get ahold of him, and he says sure,
he'd pick it up soon. I then talk to the seller, and make the deal. We chatted for quite some time about GTs. Really nice guy. He agrees to hold it, wait for $ from my buddy. That was nice.

Weeks go by, and my freind still hadn't been able to get the hitch.(it's early Oct.) I call the seller again, and he says, "no problem, I'll wait". My buddy had also called him at about the same time.
That was nice.

By christmas, still no hitch, but by then, I'd sorta given up on seller still holding it, and was
feeling sheepish about calling him. So I didn't. Things, just had never worked out for my buddy.

Jan. arrives, and the Sears "Ski Tractor" wins the Tractor of the Month contest, because a whole
bunch of nice people voted for it. That was nice. Now, I'm determined to find it a hitch, because it deserves it. But, again, nothing to be found north of the border.

Last week, the phone rings, and it's the seller of the hitch, that never got picked up. I couldn't
believe it. He'd just got back from Florida, and was wondering if I still wanted it. It left his place
in the mail today.

Now that's a REALLY nice guy.

Sounds like the seller is a nice guy. It's always good when you run into someone who will go the extra mile to make a transaction work. You do meet some nice people sometimes when buying and selling stuff. Sounds like your SS12 is coming right along.

Thanks for sharing that story Will! I tend to get down about the mean people in life, but it's usually about then that I realize that they have their place too. If it weren't for the sour apples among us, the sweet ones wouldn't be so sweet! GTTalk is my respite from the wearying world, and it's you guys that make it so!

IamSherwood, that is great news and pleases me to hear that, i have a friend in England who is in no rush with my genset and has used the time to fine tune it, i told him that it is winter and times are hard and expensive here now but no worries for him, good people like the seller of the ss12 hitch are makes this hobby such a great one.
I also have sold, picked up and held on to stuff for months for fellow collectors, no problems, im currently holding a Ariens Trac Team 27 inch cut mower deck for my uncle to use in the summer, this is not a rigid fast pace business oriented hobby for profit, what's the hurry ? enjoy it,
Looking forwards to the hitch IamSherwood

Way to go Will. I have to agree with Howard, Karma is where its at. There are good people out there just not as many as i would like to see anymore. You've shown us it still can happen and that makes it even better. My Dad always told us boys, treat people the way you want to be treated back and it will come back around in the end. Can't wait to see your pics when you get it in the shop. Randy.

Peter, you said it all right there. I have been a recipient of a lot of helpful members here. That's what puts us above other forums, helping others with their GT issues no matter what the problem.

The hitch showed up last week, and yesterday, I finally got around to installing it. It was all there, and in good shape.
Just as expected it would be.
This afternoon, I thought I'd call the seller, and tell him how happy I was.
First thing he said, was, "Oh Will, I was going to call you last night, but I dozed off. I was wondering how it
worked out for you."

Like I said before, what a nice guy.

Not very often that you get a follow up call from a private owner who you bought from! That's one of the good ones there Will! Congrats on getting it installed too, it looks great!
