Hi everyone

New here so I hope I'm in the right place. I have a JD 318 that I am looking to put a tiller on the rear and need to know what all I need to do so. I have the 3 point on back, but not sure what I need for the pto, there is a splined shaft that exits the rear of what I believe is the transmission, it looks to be about 3/4" in size. If anyone has any info to start with I would appreciate it. Thanks Mike

I moved this to the JD Forum. Depending on the year of your tractor may say which tiller/parts you need.

The 318 requires a rear pto gear cluster for the pto driven tiller. There is a shaft with a electric pto clutch that comes off of the back of the hydro pump. Then there's a three gear cluster gear box that bolts onto the rear of the diff housing, prepare to pay a decent penny for a rear pto setup, most I've seen start at $800 and go up from there. A better option would be a hydraulic driven tiller, but they are pricey too.

So I talked to a guy and he said that it didn't matter if I used a PTO or Hydraulic drive I still needed the gear set that mounted to the shaft that came out of the rear of the Hydrostat and that runs about $800. I found a tiller models 31 and 33 and they look like they're front mounts that come with the mule drive. Are these types any good and will they fit a 318?

To mount a model 30 hydraulic tiller to a 318, you need several things. A set of brackets that attach to the rear end of your tractor to mount the tiller. Another set that attaches to the ends of your rcokshaft to lift the tiller. And the belly mount belt driven pump that drives the tiller. It mounts underneath the tractor, and is belt driven from the front pto and uses the mower deck mule drive to route the belt.

I have a 212 that came with a mower deck and hydraulic tiller. Motor smokes but runs fine.
I would like to sell, I found a Power King 2414 instead.
Put it in the For Sale section!
