Ok folks, I need some help here. I've been given the oppoirtunity to purchase a Big 10 from an older gentleman that bought it brand new and it's in excellent mechanical condition. The only piece he doesn't have is the snowblower. He said it was junk! lol I'm attaching pictures of everything and would like your help in figuring out a price. He wants $4,000 and I think that's too much. Any and all help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!!!!

I would love to see an ad for a Simplicity/Allis Chalmers, 46-in, angling, spring-back, snow blade with all connecting rods, for that price.
Same here, the later style spring back and angle blade plows for Simplicity/AC machines are hard to come by around here, and when they do turn up they want $300+ for them. More if they're in really nice shape.

The older fixed blades sell cheaper but they tend to be more advertised as a dozer blade than a snow plow around here.

Big Ten - with hydro lift in decent condition - $750-$800
Headlights don't seem to matter and original headlight parts don't sell separately either.
Wheel weights $100
Chains $20
Deck $250
Disk $150
Snow Blade $200-$250 for a complete one with all the control rods.
Moldboard Plow $150
Spring Harrow $50 if you can find anyone who wants one.
V plow $75

Sleeve Hitch itself, $75

This time of year around here, it likely wouldn't even sell, Tractors only seem to sell in the early spring here and no way would it sell as a package deal unless you darn near gave it away. Every one of those things I've sold has been to someone who drove from far away to buy it.

I sold a bare Big Ten last spring here, with a deck, and no other attachments. It needed a battery, and it had the wrong fuel tank. It would run but it needed the carb cleaned and lots of TLC to say the least. The seat was trashed, someone had some old boat cushions on it for padding. It brought $650 after being listed for almost a year.

I sold a double disc set for $400 a couple of years ago but one I had listed over the summer sat without interest at $300 all summer and still didn't sell at $150. I sent it to a friends place to sell and it sold for $400 cash in an hour on the lawn.

Snow plows are hard to find in good shape and with all the parts to make them work. I've bought them for as little as $75 without any of the rods and seen them as high as $350 complete. (Yellow one's bring more than red one's).

(Snow Blowers sell faster here than plows, but personally I found those old single stage blowers about worthless on the wet type of snow we get around here). Snow blowers and snow plows only seem to sell here though when its snowing.

A nice set of ag tires on the back of one of those helps it sell a lot faster, so does a shiny new paint job. It seems most will overlook mechanical issues if its clean and shiny. For me, a clean well kept machine is a far better find.

With all this in mind, I'd expect to get somewhere between $1200 and $1500 for that package around here but it would likely sit for sale for a while before finding the right buyer.

Seems a bit high for this tractor.

I am undergoing a restoration of a B-10 currently. Found my unit for $350 or so, and it came with the mower deck.

I would keep looking. I see several of these posted from time to time.

Hard parts to find are the gas tank, points covers and seats. I had new seats custom made from a nice woman in the Midwest.

Good luck!

Running Big Ten - with hydro lift (in that shape) $500-$600
Headlights and headlight bar (front) if they're guide light housing & bulbs add $150
The rear light isn't original - BUT if there's an original rear light bracket $75-$100
Wheel weights $125
Chains $30
Deck $50
Disk $50-$75
Snow Blade $75-$100
Moldboard Plow $125
Spring Harrow $100
V plow $50-75

Each attachment can vary between $50-$100 depending on condition/paint originality, etc.

That's a nicer one that I've seen. If it's original paint maybe $700 for the tractor alone.

I wouldn't give more than $1500 for it only because it does have hydraulic lift and a couple decent attachments. The Bevel gear box behind the drive shaft will most likely need rebuilt. Years and years of Pulling a plow will have caused the gears to wear quite a bit. The gears are around $300 for the set.

If it had the Tiller and Tiller drive I would possibly go as high as 2k if I was looking for that specific machine.

Welcome to GTT. I have three ACs from the series. An early B10 with the 23D engine and hydraulic lift. The engine was blown and the seat was missing. I paid $85 for it. I have a Big Ten with the 243341 engine not running came with mower deck, leaf vacuum and the trailer with the bag system. I paid $150 for it. It took a new gas tank and rebuilding the carb to get it running. The third one is a late B10 with the 243341 engine. It wasn't running but was in very good shape. A carb kit and a couple of hours had it running. I paid $50 for it. I have picked up many attachments for $50 to $100 a piece. There are about 40 attachments for the B10s.I think that the price is ridiculous. The market for old GTs seems to have gone soft and I suspect that it is because most people can't do the work themselves.
I do not know your situation nor what your goals are. The B10 series were excellent garden tractors but they are not the only ones. If you want a good GT you have many choices. Let us know what you are looking for and you should be able to have a good GT with some attachments for under $1000. BTW check out our Manuals Section(3 free downloads per day). Good Luck, Rick

THANKS!!! I appreciate the info. Good to know. I'll definitely keep you in mind.

sounds like he wants more than he payed for it after using it for 50+ years. i don't know the prices on simplicty or allis but that price is pretty steep to me. the tractor is clean but looks like the carb might be leaking a little and i bet there is a pile of hours on that machine. doesn't look neglected or left outside.
Seems steep to me also but but what he paid for all that in 1965 would likely have bought him 3/4 of a nice pickup truck. Don

Yes, he has kept it garaged when he doesn't use it. I was thinking more along the lines of $2,500 tops.
